Migrating from Other Modules
If you're currently using another Pterodactyl module for WHMCS, migrating to Vortexus is straightforward.
Why Migrate?
Vortexus offers advantages over other Pterodactyl modules:
| Feature | Other Modules | Vortexus |
|---|---|---|
| Server Management | Redirect to Pterodactyl Panel | Fully within WHMCS |
| Console Access | External panel only | Built-in WHMCS console |
| File Manager | External panel only | Within WHMCS |
| Power Controls | External panel only | Within WHMCS |
| Template Marketplace | Not available | Full marketplace |
| Multi-Server Support | Limited or none | Full extension |
| Languages | Limited | 26 languages |
Migration Steps
Step 1: Install Vortexus
Follow the standard installation:
Step 2: Configure Server in WHMCS
Add your Pterodactyl server with Vortexus:
- Go to Setup → Servers
- Add new server with type Vortexus Web - Pterodactyl
- Configure both API keys (Application + Client)
Step 3: Update Existing Products
For each existing product using another Pterodactyl module:
- Go to Setup → Products/Services
- Edit the product
- Go to Module Settings tab
- Change Module Name to Vortexus Web - Pterodactyl
- Select your Vortexus server
- Configure the module settings (Nest ID, Egg ID, resources)
- Save changes
Important
Changing the module on existing products won't affect already-provisioned servers. Existing servers will continue to work with their current Pterodactyl configuration.
Step 4: Test
- Create a test order with the updated product
- Verify server creation works
- Test client area access - clients should now see the full management interface within WHMCS
Existing Servers
Servers created with other modules will continue to function. The Vortexus module will manage them using the same Pterodactyl API.
For clients with existing servers:
- They can now manage servers within WHMCS
- Console, files, power controls are now accessible
- No action needed on Pterodactyl side
Multi-Servers Migration
If activating the Multi-Servers extension on products with existing servers:
- Install and enable Multi-Servers extension
- When activating, the system detects existing servers
- Choose to import them into the multi-server environment
- Clients can then create additional servers within their limits
Removing Old Module
After confirming Vortexus works correctly:
- Update all products to use Vortexus
- Remove old module server from WHMCS
- Delete old module files (optional)
